All of these attributes have been designed around the themes and goals of Homeland Security Presidential Directive 7 (HSPD 7), which established the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP). This plan was established to address the protection of Critical Infrastructure/Key Resources (CI/KR) across all sectors of the nation. To accomplish the primary objectives contained within the NIPP, a greater situational awareness coupled with improved informational sharing among all entities was mandated across all 18 sectors.
